Rush Week

This is the very first step on joining Sigma Nu. All you must do is attend some of our events at no cost to you. If we like you and see potential in you, we will offer you a bid

The Bid

What’s a Bid you might ask? A Bid is kind of like an invite to our chapter. This is not saying you can join right away its just kind of the real beginning to joining our brother hood. Once you receive the bid you will be invited to our bid dinner. It is strongly recommended to come. This is a good way to meet the guys who you couldn’t talk during rush week

Becoming a Candidate

Once you have accepted your bid and want to learn more of our ways and how we run the chapter. You will become a candidate. This is like, what other fraternities call pledging, and it is the same thing. However, we feel the word pledge is a demeaning term, so we give you the name candidates. Once you are officially a Candidate of Sigma Nu. You will have to learn our history and our ways at Sigma Nu. So will be required to come to 10 classes through your 12-week candidate process at Sigma Nu. When you become a candidate, you will have to pay a $100 dollar fee, this fee goes straight to the nationals and our chapter doesn’t take it, when you pay this fee, you get access to our socials, Monday meals before meeting, and our formals. At the later parts of your candidate experience with the Eta Theta Chapter of Sigma Nu, we have an event called Honor Week. What Honor Week is a week where we honor our candidates. This includes you staying at the house for the whole week bonding with the brothers and just hanging out, we even buy you whatever food you want for that whole week. We do this because we really appreciate the time you put in learning and deciding if Sigma Nu is really for you. So right before you become a brother of the Eta Theta Chapter of Sigma Nu, we have you take a candidate test. You can’t fail this test; the test only determines what your Pin will be in the chapter. The Pin tells you what number member you are in the chapter. It is encouraged you study for this because you want the lowest pin possible

Joining the Brotherhood

So, when you Learn our ways, values, and how the chapter is run you will become initiated, the fee for joining the Brotherhood is $235 dollars. This fee can be waived if you move into the house. After that all monthly dues are $155 dollars a month, we do not pay the monthly dues in the summer. This is the best part of your journey because you are done, you finished the race, you are a brother. You get to wear our letters, call yourself a brother of Sigma Nu, and learn our secrets.
